cough cough

i have a sick baby on my hands and it is just awful! if cole sneezes snot comes flying out. his poor little nose is running like a broken faucet. he can't sleep well because he's so stuffed up. he also has a slight fever. when he coughs it makes him cry, i think maybe he has a sore throat. the worst part is he can't tell me what's wrong so all i can do is try to figure it out.
ok i lied! the worst part is the nasal aspirator. as soon as cole sees it he begins squirming all over the place and wiggling like i have never seen! i know it will help him to feel better, but trying to get near him with it is like wrestling a little pig in the mud.

Try Little Noses saline drops...they work great to help break up the congestion. And if sleeping is really really bad, they make Little Noses decongestant drops that you can put one drop in each nostril (just for aa night or two - you can't use them too often) and it helps clear him up. I'm not sure on what the age limit is on those, but it may be worth checking out if he's really having trouble sleeping.

The plain saline usually always works for us just fine though!

those aspirators are impossible! Liam never lets me get close to him with him, but he'll let me stick my finger in there to dig out a little boogie or two, as he calls them "bats in the cave". Go figure!!

Nosefrida works great, kids like it better and it's fast. The bulb is useless.

Ok I know homeopathic hippie but it works for my kids so leave me alone. Put the little guy in the bathroom turn on the hot water and let the steam clear his nose, yes it gets hot in there(and to avoid wasting water I always throw all the tub toys in the tub, plug it up and use the water to clean them after) and Pheenie usually falls alseep and then I'm trapped in there but it does work. If you can get it eucalyptus oil in the water helps too. (also good for cleaning the toys) If you can prop him up a little bit while he's sleeping he might be able to stay asleep for longer. As you know humidifiers work well too just make sure he doesn't stick his hand in the steam, get burned and leave you feeling like the worlds worst mom for years :) Oh one more thing, make sure you take time for yourself because when they are sick your stress level hits the roof and that's not good for either of you. Hope he's better fast. Love you!
